I know this might ruffle a few feathers, but I’m going to say it anyway.
Done is NOT better than perfect.
Now listen, this doesn’t apply to everything.
But if you’re a premium service provider, the bar is higher.
I remember a conversation I had with someone who was working for someone else, delivering a service, and their mindset was very much “done is better than perfect.” It was in that moment that I realized how strongly I disagreed.
If someone is paying you, especially if they are a premium buyer, there is a level of professionalism and responsibility that comes with it. You are being trusted with work that will impact someone’s business in a real way. And that changes the standard.
When someone hires my team, perfection is the goal. We think through the experience, paying attention to the small details as much as the big ones. We are not rushing just to say something is finished.
In my studio, done is not better than perfect.
Now, I will say. This mindset does have a place in areas like your personal growth, creative thought, your first launch, and early seasons in business… when momentum matters more than perfection.
When I launched my very first digital project, I did not wait until it felt perfect. I put it out there and refined it along the way. If I had waited until it was flawless, it would still be sitting in my Google Drive.
Both mindsets serve a purpose in our businesses.
You do not need perfection to move forward with your vision.
But you do owe it to the people who hire you.
One mindset is about growth.
The other is about integrity.
Knowing when and how to apply each one is what quietly shapes your brand legacy.
