My Life

The unexpected lesson I learned from quitting sugar.

So… I did it. Ninety days without dessert.

If you know me, you know that’s an accomplishment.

But I wanted to see what would happen if I changed one small habit. Not because I thought dessert was “bad,” but because I wanted to feel more clear and centered in every part of my life.

When I hit 90 days, I celebrated by buying some cotton candy (because if you’re going to go for it, you might as well make it fun, right?). I took a few bites, realized it just didn’t hit like it used to…and tossed the rest.

And honestly? That moment hit me harder than I expected.

It wasn’t about the sugar.

It was about realizing how much lighter I’ve felt these past few months, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

It reminded me how often we think “balance” means doing it all, when sometimes it’s actually about doing less.

Running a business can make you feel like you’re constantly moving: hitting deadlines, meeting clients, delegating to your team, chasing new opportunities, pursuing your passions…

It’s too easy to assume that momentum is success. But if your nervous system is running on fumes, it’s hard to hear your own intuition.

For a long time, I believed peace would come once I checked everything off the list. But the real peace showed up when I finally stopped trying to do it all.

It’s in the quiet moments, the sauna sessions, the slow walks without my phone, the boundaries around my work time, where the best ideas actually find me.

When I take care of myself, everything in my business aligns more easily.

I make better decisions. I feel more confident saying “no.” I have energy to create from a place of peace instead of pressure.

So if you’ve been feeling like you’re pushing uphill lately, maybe this is your reminder: you don’t have to earn calm. You just have to make space for it.

Take the walk. Sit in silence. Let something small go.

Clarity isn’t something you chase. It’s something you allow.

Here’s to slowing down, tuning in, and letting your next season of success come from a place of peace.
