A few weeks ago, I was cleaning out the junk drawer in our kitchen.
You know the one. Batteries that may or may not work. Half-used gift cards. Cords for who knows what.
At some point, it all had a purpose… but now? It’s just clutter.
And somewhere between the two random birthday candles and Chick-fil-A gift card, I had this moment like—yep, this is exactly what a misaligned brand feels like.
Everything is technically there, but none of it is actually helping you.
Because, in reality, when your brand is out of sync, it’s not always a big red flag. It’s more subtle. Like clutter, you’ve gotten used to.
You keep trying to make things “fit,” but nothing clicks.
You show up, but it doesn’t feel like you.
You try to write content, and suddenly your brain feels like that drawer. Full, but not helpful.
Here are a few signs to watch for if something is feeling “off”:
→ You’re constantly second-guessing your posts before you hit “publish”
→ You keep reworking your website… and still feel like it’s not “there yet”
→ You find yourself saying, “It’s hard to explain,” when someone asks what you do
→ You’re doing good work, but it feels like people still don’t really “get” it
→ You’ve got big ideas, but none of them feel like the idea
If that’s you right now, I want you to take a deep breath. You don’t need to burn it all down and start from scratch.
But you do need to pause, clear out what’s no longer working, and get back to what feels true to you. Because when your brand actually reflects who you are and and the value you bring, showing up gets a whole lot easier.
To cleaning out the junk drawer 🤎
