When’s the last time you said “yes” to something not for the outcome, but because it just felt right?
Earlier this year, I co-hosted the grand opening of the new Kendra Scott store at the Thruway Shopping Center with Meredith Tucker, Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital, Triad Moms on Main, in support of local non-profit Shining Through the Storm, founded by Universe United Miss North Carolina 2025, Reanna Ruark.

The whole night was so special. Not just because of the gorgeous setup or the jewelry, but because of what it stood for. Kendra Scott doesn’t just open stores; they show up for the community and give back in the most intentional way.
And it reminded me why I love saying “yes” to things like this.
I met new people. Had the kind of good, unforced conversations that filled my cup. And made new connections. One of those connections ended up being with a business called Mom League that won the brand shoot I donated for the event.
Now, I get to work with someone I wouldn’t have known otherwise. They get to experience what it feels like to be in front of my camera. And who knows where that will lead?
And that part? That’s what gets me every time.
Because here’s the truth: when I partner with other women, host events, or give something away, it’s not about trying to “get” something.
I don’t show up with a pitch or a goal.
I just lead with heart.
I create the kind of experience I want people to remember.
And nine times out of ten? That’s what leaves the biggest impact.
Sometimes people bring a friend. That friend ends up following me. Maybe they’ll book a shoot later. But even if they don’t. Even if they leave feeling seen, welcomed, and valued, we’ve both won.
That’s the real gift.
That’s what builds trust.
That’s what creates connections and growth that last.
So if you’ve been thinking about partnering with someone, showing up at a local event, or just putting yourself in a new room, this is your reminder:
You don’t have to overthink it.
You don’t have to chase the outcome.
You just need to show up and be you.
The rest always finds its way.
