Video marketing is a powerful tool for businesses of all types, but it can be hard to know where to start. To help you achieve your business goals, I’ve outlined a concrete plan that you can use to implement video into your marketing strategy. Whether you’re just starting out or have been using video for years, this guide will help you take your marketing up a notch by giving you specific strategies and tactics that will help you to get noticed. Check out the 4 Ways to Uplevel Your Marketing with Video.
Create reels/Tiktoks for your business
This is a great way to show off the variety of skills you have as a business owner, and it also helps people understand what you do and why they should hire you. These quick videos are also an awesome way to build a relationship with your audience. Just like your posts and newsletters shouldn’t be to sell, sell, sell neither should your reels or TikToks.
When planning this content, spend 10-15 minutes (set a timer if you have to) and check out trending audio. Save the audios you like as you scroll through and jot down your ideas for how to use that audio. Trust me, when you pull it back up you won’t remember your idea, so jot it down as you go. When considering what to create think of ways to connect with your audience. Common interests like being a mom, loving to organize, making your coffee, your favorite reads, etc can make you more relatable to your audience and therefore help you build your relationships with them.

Tell your story through video marketing
It’s tempting when using video for the first time to try something elaborate maybe even make a full-length film! However, if you’re just getting started with visual content, keep things simple.
Your customers want to know who you are and what makes you different from your competitors. They want to see a behind-the-scenes look at your business and how it operates. They want to see what makes your products or brand so special. Most importantly, they want to feel like they’re getting to know YOU (the owner or manager) personally and videos are one of the best ways to do this!
When we work with clients with our branding experience we ensure that we tell our client’s stories through a promotional video. These are a great way to engage your audience and have them get to know your mission, vision, and values for your business. When you are able to be crystal clear on these three aspects of your business you will attract your ideal clients and repel the clients that aren’t a good fit.
Teach your audience
When creating educational content you want to ensure that your videos are teaching your audience something they want to learn. If you’re trying to sell a product or service, but the video doesn’t tell them how it will solve their problem or help them achieve their goals, they won’t want to watch it.
You can create instructional videos, which will help your customers learn how to use your products or services. You can also create educational videos that teach your customers about the industry or the process of using your product or service. This will help establish trust and credibility with them, which will lead them to be more likely to buy from you again in the future.
I love utilizing stories as a way to poll my audience to see what they’re interested in learning from me. This takes the guesswork out of it and lets you know that the content you create will be something your audience is interested in learning from you.
Showcase your work
This is the most common way to use video content, and it’s an effective way to show off what you do. There are so many ways to utilize video to stop your audience’s scroll while highlighting your work. These types of videos perform best at 15 seconds or less. Longer videos should show how the product is made, used, or your process in working with your client but shorter videos will perform better when showing off your work. I like to recommend quick transitions in time with the music to get the most out of your video.
These videos give your audience an idea of what they can expect when they hire you. This allows you to begin setting expectations before your client ever reaches out. From the quality of your products to the experience they can expect to what problem of theirs you’re solving.
How video can uplevel marketing
Video is one of the most powerful tools you can use to improve your marketing. Video allows you to connect with your audience in a way that’s more intimate and engaging than other mediums. They can also be repurposed across several different platforms.
One of the best ways to get started with video is by making a series of videos that show the different aspects of your business. Brainstorm different categories for your content like getting to know you, what you do, who you serve, what products/services you offer, and how to use your products/services. You can create a longer video to post to YouTube and then break that video into smaller segments for Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.
You can also use videos as part of your email marketing strategy by sending out emails that contain links to these videos at certain intervals throughout the week or month. This will help remind people who receive these emails what they’re missing out on if they don’t check out all the content available on your site! When you create videos as your center of marketing you can circulate pieces of that video to the other areas of your marketing with significantly less effort.
