The other night, after I finished dinner and finally sat down to catch my breath, I took a few minutes to scroll through my feed. And while I was scrolling, a photo grabbed my attention. I didn’t know this person or brand. But something about it made me stop and give it a second look.

It reminded me of something that really grounds the work we do with our clients. I think one of the biggest misconceptions about brand photography is that the goal is to create images that simply look good. But the images that stay with us usually have something deeper behind them.

They capture something you can feel. An energy that words cannot really describe.

That’s the difference between a photo of someone and a photo that tells you who they are.

My team and I had the pleasure of experiencing exactly that last month during our brand shoot with Samantha Harper, and I cannot wait to give you a peek inside! 

An Afternoon in the Mountains with Samantha Harper

We first met Sam years ago in Nashville while documenting a conference for our long-standing client Melissa Henault. She walked into the room with a smile that could brighten the darkest room, wearing the cutest two-piece set, and we have been fans ever since.

Sam is a former clinical trauma therapist who left the traditional model to build her own wellness practice. She bridges neuroscience, trauma healing, and sound to help leaders steady their nervous systems and lead from a calmer place.

Watching her work is a true gift. Sam co-facilitated with Melissa at her recent Founders Fire Retreat, and we got to steal Sam away for an hour one afternoon.

As we switched gears to shoot Sam, we already knew the feeling we wanted to capture: the grounded, calm presence that Sam carries into every room without saying a word.
